The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has opened a satellite office in Bacolod City, its seventh established branch since VP Sara Duterte assumed office, her spokesperson Atty. Reynold Munsayac said Thursday.

At a press conference, Munsayac announced that the newest satellite office located at Mosser Building inside the city’s Goldenfields Complex, was inaugurated on August 1, Monday. The ceremony was led by Bacolod City former Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Himamaylan City Mayor Raymund Tongson, and the property owners.

Munsayac said the OVP Bacolod branch is headed by Volunteer Satellite Office Manager, Dr. Chris Sorongon.

The office has also served its first few clients under the OVP’s medical and burial assistance program.

“In its first day operation, the Bacolod OVP satellite office was able to cater to around 200 clients,” Munsayac said.

As of Wednesday, he said the OVP in the National Capital Region and its satellite offices have already processed claims for medical and burial assistance amounting to P36,476,494.32, and already released the amount of P11,482,023.40.

The OVP initially opened six satellite field offices in six regions of the country during Duterte’s first day as vice president. These are located in: Dagupan (Region 1), Cebu (Region VII), Tacloban (Region VIII), Zamboanga (Region IX), Davao (Region XI), and Tandag in Surigao del Sur (Region XIII).

“Not even 100 days into office, Vice President Sara Duterte and the [OVP] have already introduced and implemented new projects and programs aimed at addressing some of the basic social services needed by Filipinos,” Munsayac said.

“[The] OVP continues to respond to the underlying message that government intervention is critical and necessary as we transport our dreams of inclusive development into reality,” he added. — RSJ, GMA News
