Marcos: Stronger ties with India expected after talks with Modi

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said the country's relations with India were expected to be strengthened following his talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Nagagalak naman tayo na makausap sa telepono ang punong ministro na si Narendra Modi. Tiyak natin na mas iigting ang ating magandang relasyon sa bansang India," Marcos said in his Instagram post on Saturday.

(We are glad to have talked with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone. We will ensure that our good relations with India will be strengthened.)

In a statement, Modi said that he was looking forward to working closely with Marcos "to continue strengthening the India-Philippines ties."

Meanwhile, Marcos' fourth Cabinet meeting on Friday tackled how the government would assist agrarian reform beneficiaries.

The Office of the President said among the interventions discussed was crafting a measure on the condonation of payments for the amortization fees and interests on ARB loans, as well as providing legal help for land disputes.

The OP added that beneficiaries could also be given modern farm equipment and credit assistance. — DVM/VBL, GMA News
