DOH records 4,533 new COVID-19 cases; active tally leaps to 37,962

The Philippines' daily new COVID-19 case tally was back in the 4,000 range on Thursday, as 4,533 new infections were recorded by the Department of Health.

This brings the nationwide tally to 3,818,480, and active infections to 37,962—an increase from 36,666 on Wednesday.

Thursday's tally is an increase from the 2,618 cases recorded on Tuesday and the 3,181 cases on Wednesday.

In the recent two weeks, the National Capital Region (NCR) topped the list with 15,700, followed by Calabarzon with 10,098, Central Luzon with 5,189, Western Visayas with 2,842, and Central Visayas with 2,167.

New recoveries also recorded, increasing the recovery tally to 3,719,602,  while the country’s death tally climbed to 60,916.

The latest figures also showed at least 8,684 beds were occupied, while 20,353 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country increased to 29.9% as of Tuesday, August 9.

The Health department said a total of 24,814 individuals were tested, while 326 testing labs submitted data as of August 10. — BM, GMA News
