1,750 new COVID-19 cases logged, active tally dips to 22,899

The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday logged 1,750 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the nationwide caseload to 3,896,541.

This was the second day straight of fewer than 2,000 daily reported COVID-19 cases.

The active infections also dropped to 22,899 from 23,272 on Tuesday, marking the second day straight of decreasing active cases.

The National Capital Region (NCR) reported highest cases in the past two weeks with 9,082, followed by Calabarzon with 4,254, Central Luzon with 2,747, Western Visayas with 1,429, and Davao Region with 1,412.

The country’s recovery tally also increased to 3,811,475 with 2,025 new recoveries, according to the DOH.

The death toll, on the other hand, also rose to 62,167 with 49 new fatalities. This was the 16th straight day of at least 40 new deaths.

Meanwhile, at least 8,060 beds were occupied, while 21,120 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country stood at 27.6% as of Monday, September 5.

The DOH reported at least 19,755 individuals were tested, while 330 testing labs submitted data as of Tuesday, September 6. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
