Philippines posts 2,313 new COVID-19 cases as active tally hits 24,300


The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday registered 2,313 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country’s caseload to 3,901,033.

This was the second day straight when more than 2,000 new cases were logged.

Based on the DOH’s latest data, the active tally slightly increased to 24,300 from 24,032 on Thursday.

The National Capital Region (NCR) logged the highest cases in the recent two weeks with 8,639, followed by Calabarzon with 3,757, Central Luzon with 2,423, Davao Region with 1,317, and Western Visayas with 1,242.

The DOH, meanwhile, said the country’s recovery tally also climbed to 3,814,484 with 1,840 new recoveries.

At least 43 new deaths were recorded as the death tally rose to 62,249.

The Health department said a total of 7,802 beds were occupied, while 21,086 were vacant as the bed occupancy in the country slightly decreased to 27% as of Wednesday, September 7.

A total of 18,587 individuals were tested, while 332 testing labs submitted data as of Thursday, September 8.—LDF, GMA News
