1,574 new COVID-19 infections logged, active tally down to 24,502

The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday logged 1,574 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the nationwide caseload to 3,909,772.

This was the third straight day of fewer than 3,000 reported cases.

The National Capital Region recorded the highest number of cases in the last two weeks with 9,133, followed by Calabarzon with 3,711, Central Luzon with 2,304, Davao Region with 1,278, and Western Visayas with 1,103.

The death toll climbed to 62,382 with 40 new fatalities, while the number of recoveries increased to 3,822,888.

As of Monday, a total of 7,694 beds were occupied while 20,925 were vacant as the bed occupancy rate in the country stood at 26.9%.

The department said 18,779 individuals were tested for the coronavirus on Monday, while 339 testing laboratories submitted data. —VBL, GMA News
