By RICHA NORIEGA,GMA News

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Saturday (PHL time) said his six-day working visit to the United States was “successful” and that he was “satisfied” with the work of his delegation.

Marcos addressed the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), held meetings with several personalities and world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, talked to the business sector in the US, and met with the Filipino community.

“I am very happy to be able to report to you that the expressions of support from President Joe Biden and our friends here in the United States have been very positive,” he said in a media interview at a hotel in New York City.

“I consider this trip successful...and overall I am satisfied with the work that we have done.”

Marcos said his call for unity “on a global scale” at the UNGA had generated a “very good” response.

During his speech on Wednesday (PHL time), he also discussed climate change, food security, and his government's goal for the Philippines to reach upper middle-income status next year.

At an economic briefing in New York on Thursday (PHL time), Marcos touted the Philippines’ “economic resurgence” following the COVID-19 pandemic and invited American businesses to “invest now.”

“Karamihan sa kanila ay nasa Pilipinas na. But they want to expand their operations; they want to do more,” Marcos told reporters.

“I think I can say we [came] away from this trip with a great deal of work to do to operationalize all of the things that we had talked about,” he said.

“But nonetheless, the most important thing to me, which was in fact my real intention when I came here and when we were planning the trip, was to get these discussions started, and we have achieved that. We have got those discussions started.”
