Bersamin, Deputy ES Guevarra visit Percy Lapid's wake

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Hubert Guevarra on Thursday visited the wake of slain radio broadcaster Percy Lapid at the Manila Memorial.

In a tweet, Super Radyo dzBB's Jhomer Apresto said this was to personally extend their condolences to Lapid's family.

During the visit, Bersamin assured Lapid's widow and son of the administration's assistance regarding any concerns, including security.

"We are ready to help," he said. "The President wants to send that message."

Bersamin also informed the family of the government task force on media concerns. Regarding the investigation, he told the family that "everything will be done to get to the bottom of this."

Authorities are currently in the process of identifying the two suspects behind the killing of Lapid, who was shot dead while on his way home in Barangay Talon Dos, Las Piñas City around 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

Lapid, whose real name was Percival Mabasa, was the host of the online broadcast program "Percy Lapid Fire" at DWBL 1242 and a columnist for Hataw.

The Deparrment of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) previously said an in-depth investigation has started through a Special Investigation Task Force formed by the Las Piñas City Police hours after the shooting incident.

DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos is offering P500,000 to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.  —KBK, GMA News
