PITX operations back to normal after Paeng strands travelers

The operator of the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) over the weekend called on passengers to limit their baggage, as operations resumed following the onslaught of Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Naegi).

According to the PITX operator, nearly 500 passengers were stranded over the weekend due to inclement weather, but trips resumed as of Sunday.

“Mainam na kaunti lang ‘yung dalhin nila para unang una, hindi sila mahirapan,” PITX Corporate Affairs and Government Relations Head Jason Salvador said in Vonne Aquino's Sunday report on “24 Oras Weekend.”

“Pangalawa, para makapagdala rin naman ‘yung kanilang mga kasabay sa pampublikong sasakyan,” he added.

(Passengers are urged to limit their baggage so firstly, they do not have a difficult time. Second, so other passengers can also bring their belongings.)

Some of those stranded were passengers who were at the PITX as early as Friday, October 28, but trips have been limited especially for roll-on/roll-off ships.

PITX officials said operations were back to normal as of Sunday evening, but they continued to monitor the situation and deferred to any guidance from the Philippine Coast Guard.

Tropical Storm Paeng was moving west-southwest as of Sunday afternoon. However, the storm was expected to track north-northwestward or northwestward by Sunday evening or Monday early morning.
