Philippines logs 1,099 new COVID-19 cases; active cases at 20,227

The Department of Health (DOH) monitored 1,099 new COVID-19 infections on Monday — the lowest tally recorded in the country in six days.

This is the third straight day the number of new COVID-19 cases in the country was below 1,500 and the 11th straight day that total daily infections were less than 2,000.

Based on the latest DOH bulletin, the total nationwide caseload was now at 4,004,465.

Active cases likewise decreased to 20,227 — marking the lowest number of active infections in the country for over three months or since July 17’s 19, 873.

Total recoveries increased to 3,920,164 while the death toll rose by 41 to 64, 074. This is the third straight day new recoveries were higher than new cases and the 28th straight day more than 30 deaths were monitored.

Metro Manila remained the region with the highest number of new COVID-19 infections in the last 14 days with 5,106. It was followed by Region IV-A with 3,170; Region III with 1,855; Region VI with 1,713 and Region XI with 1,186.

The DOH said 7,615 individuals were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, October 30 while 301 testing labs submitted their results.

Meanwhile, the country’s bed occupancy rate remained at low risk at 23.4%, or 21,930 out of the 28,646 beds nationwide were vacant, while 6,716 were occupied. — DVM, GMA News
