UP, Ateneo, La Salle drop in QS Asia university standings

The University of the Philippines (UP) dropped 10 spots to No. 87 in this year's Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings but remained the top school in the country on the list.

The Ateneo de Manila University also dropped by 10 spots to 134, as well as the De La Salle University ranking 171 from last year's 160.

The University of Santo Tomas climbed up two spots to 175.

Other Philippine universities that made the ranking were:

Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (601-650)
Saint Louis University (651-700)
Xavier University (651-700)
Adamson University (701-750)
Cebu Technological University (701-750)

The top 10 institutions in the QS World University Rankings are as follows:

1. Peking University
2. National University of Singapore (NUS)
3. Tsinghua University
4. The University of Hong Kong
5. Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU)
6. Fudan University
6. Zhejiang University
8. KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology)
9. Universiti Malaya (UM)
10. Shanghai Jiao Tong University

The 15th edition of the QS World University Rankings Asia included 757 institutions.

It used 11 indicators to assess each school.  These are: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/ student ratio, international research network, citations per paper, papers per faculty, staff with PhD, proportion of international faculty, proportion of international students, proportion of inbound exchange students, and proportion of outbound exchange students.—LDF, GMA News
