By ANNA FELICIA BAJO,GMA Integrated News

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Friday urged parties in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to return to diplomacy and take into account the human cost of war.

"We are also concerned with the severe and disruptive international economic ramifications of this ongoing conflict, particularly on global food and energy security and commodity supply chains,” Marcos said during his intervention at the 41st ASEAN Summit Retreat Session in Cambodia.

Marcos also echoed the call of the ASEAN foreign ministers for maximum restraint and to refrain from provocative action.

“We always urge peace in the resolution of these conflicts,” Marcos said.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, thousands have died and millions have been displaced, triggering sanctions from the international community.

In September, a Kyiv government official said Russia's invasion of Ukraine had already caused almost $1 trillion in damage. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
