The Senate on Tuesday swiftly approved the Judiciary’s proposed budget for 2023 at the plenary level.

This after no senator wished to interpellate the budget of their co-equal branch of government.

Senator Sonny Angara said the Judiciary’s budget under the Senate finance committee report stands at P53.370 billion.

This is slightly higher than the P52.72 billion provided to the Judiciary for 2023 under the National Expenditures Program.

The Judiciary’s budget includes funds for the Supreme Court, lower courts, Presidential Electoral Tribunal, Sandiganbayan, Court of Appeals, and Court of Tax Appeals.

Angara said Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, Senators Francis Escudero, Raffy Tulfo, Francis Tolentino, Mark Villar and Nancy Binay expressed their support for the Judiciary’s  budget. —KG, GMA Integrated News
