DSWD's Tulfo: Marcos told me to 'keep going' after CA nomination deferment

Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo said Wednesday President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. advised him to continue doing his job even after a Commission on Appointments (CA) panel deferred the deliberations of his ad interim appointment.

During a Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum, Tulfo refrained from commenting regarding the CA’s deferment of his nomination, saying he does not want to influence or preempt the Commission’s final decision.

However, he shared that he asked Marcos for guidance regarding the matter, to which the latter replied in a text message that Tulfo has “to keep going” and “just do [his] job.”

“The instruction of the President was ‘to just keep on doing what you’re supposed to do and then make preparations for the coming typhoons etcetera,’” Tulfo said.

“What he told me was that, ‘You get ready. You let them do their jobs,’” he added.

Tulfo was questioned during a CA committee on social welfare and development hearing Tuesday regarding his citizenship and libel issues. His “very colorful love life” was also brought up, having 10 children with four separate women.
