Marcos condoles with Indonesia after strong quake

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Wednesday expressed his condolences to Indonesia following the strong earthquake that killed at least 268 individuals.

"I express my deepest condolences to President @jokowi (Joko Widodo) for the loss of lives caused by the 5.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Java, Indonesia," Marcos said in a tweet.

"The heartfelt prayers of the Filipino people go out to the families of those lost and affected by this devastation," he added.

Those affected by the strong quake near the town of Cianjur in West Java are now appealing for food and water as rescuers picked through devastated villages.

Reports said the Indonesian government already dispatched tents and other supplies to Cianjur for the displaced residents. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
