DOH records 1,158 new COVID-19 cases; active tally down to 18,387

The Department of Health on Saturday recorded 1,158 new COVID-19 infections, while the active tally went down to 18,387.

Active cases dropped from 18,632 on Friday even as new infections increased the overall tally to 4,047,878.

The National Capital Region had the highest number of cases (5,539) in the past two weeks. It was followed by Calabarzon with 2,237, Central Luzon with 1,070, Cagayan Valley with 801, and Western Visayas with 792.

The number of those who recovered jumped to 3,964,635, while the death toll increased to 64,856.

As of Friday, the national bed occupancy rate was 23.3%, with 6,488 occupied and 21,363 vacant beds.

A total of 11,021 individuals were tested on Friday and 334 testing laboratories submitted data. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
