The Supreme Court has completed proceedings and given its final order to an estimated 3,197 cases from January to November this year, Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo said Wednesday.

“So these include minute resolutions, unsigned resolutions, signed decisions, and signed resolutions,” Gesmundo said in a press conference in Manila.

Gesmundo said this is higher than the disposition rate from 2021.

“We assure you that cases are moving faster than before and the disposition rate higher than the previous year,” Gesmundo said.

Meanwhile, Associate Justice Marvic Leonen said that the first National Shari’ah Summit will be held next year.

“For the first time ever, ire-recognize ang Shari’ah [Islam's legal system]. Dahil marami naman tayong Shari’ah courts but there are certain things that we need to tackle,” he said.
