DSWD suspends processing, release of guarantee letters from Dec. 19-31, 2022

By GMA Integrated News

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced over the weekend it will temporarily suspend the processing and releasing of guarantee letters from Monday, December 19, to Saturday, December 31, 2022.

The said guarantee letters are for the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the DSWD.

The department said it is implementing the temporary suspension at the DSWD Central Office to ensure that the guarantee letters previously released will be paid first.

"Para mabigyan ng panahon ang pagsasaayos ng mga kailangan upang mabayaran ang mga guarantee letter na unang naipamahagi sa mga kliyenteng humingi ng assistance sa AICS program ng DSWD, pansamantalang sususpindehin ang paglalabas ng mga guarantee letter simula December 19 hanggang December 31, 2022," it said.

(To allow for enough time in the processing of requirements for the payment of guarantee letters previously issued to clients who asked for assistance in the AICS program of the DSWD, we are temporarily suspending the release of guarantee letters starting December 19 until December 31, 2022.)

The DSWD advised the public to await further announcements on its website and social media account as to when the processing and releasing of guarantee letters will resume.

According to the DSWD, the AICS is one of the programs under the department’s Protective Services Program that provides financial and material assistance, psychosocial support, and referral services to indigents or in crisis individuals and their families, as assessed by social workers.

Under Memorandum Circular No. 15, the department said it streamlined the implementing procedure and simplified the eligibility forms and documentary requirements and its corresponding approving authorities at the Central Office and Field and Satellite Offices.

The DSWD said that it has issued updated guidelines on the implementation of AICS to ensure the faster and more efficient delivery of assistance. —KG, GMA Integrated News
