Department of Health (DOH) officer in charge Maria Rosario Vergeire visited some hospitals in Metro Manila on Thursday to check their preparedness ahead of the New Year’s Eve celebration.

Vergeire, together with key officials, visited the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, East Avenue Medical Center, and Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center.

“As we approach the end of the year, we continue to pursue a whole-of-government approach in ensuring the safety of Filipinos. With the support from our hospitals, various government agencies such as the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), we are positive that we will be able to approach 2023 safely and prosperously,” Vergeire said.

The DOH OIC said all hospitals were under code white. The hospitals have been instructed to prepare and have a special team to address the concerns of those people going to hospitals with injuries due to firecrackers.
