Marcos on why he's still DA chief: They can't say no to the President

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday put forward a reason why he's still the secretary of agriculture.

Asked to comment on calls for him to appoint an agriculture chief other than himself, Marcos said there were things that he could do as President that a secretary might take time accomplishing.

"For me sa DA, there really are things that I can do that if there was a secretary and he or she did it, hindi – magagawa pero matagal, madaming diskusyon, and they’ll have to come up," Marcos said in an interview with television news anchors.

"The President they cannot say no to. And ‘pag hindi nila ginawa ‘yung utos ko, puwede kong sitahin," he added.

Marcos indicated that a secretary may still listen to appeals when he or she decides on how to move forward.

"So that’s what I bring to the position is that when I make a decision, I say this is what we need to do, this is the plan, every one of you follow this plan, you do this, you will do that," Marcos said.

"Kailangan masunod ‘yun. And if not, then... I can chastise them, I can move them aside, push them into other positions, etc.," he added.

"Generally speaking, if the President asked you to do something, they’ll do it. If there’s somebody else to do it, they may do it. They'll probably do it but they may not. So we want to take that wiggle room out of... out of that system," Marcos said. —NB, GMA Integrated News
