DSWD's Gatchalian: Cash aid payout will be by appointment

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian said Saturday the distribution of the agency’s cash aid program to beneficiaries will be through a QR code-based appointment system in a bid to avoid crushing queuing for beneficiaries.

Interviewed on Dobol B TV, Gatchalian said, “Starting tomorrow... lahat by appointment.”

“Kung 700 'yung kaya naman i-process. Ibibigay namin ang QR stubs for 700. Kapag naubos 'yung 700 at may nakapila pa, we'll do another 700 for the following day,” the DSWD chief said.

The Cabinet official said that the agency is avoiding instances where one person will fall-in line to get an appointment stub then sell it to another.

To implement the appointment system, he said, the agency will open more payout outlets in Metro Manila “in 45 to 60 days.”

Maglalagay din tayo sa San Jose del Monte [Bulacan],” he said.

“Kaya kami magbubukas ng payout outlets, in the future, magkakaroon na tayo ng territorial na approach. —LBG, GMA Integrated News
