Advisory group screened 466 of 955 senior officers’ courtesy resignations so far — PNP
By JOVILAND RITA,GMA Integrated NewsThe five-man advisory group has reviewed 466 of the 955 senior officers’ courtesy resignations so far, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday.
In a statement, the group’s spokesperson PNP public information office acting chief Police Colonel Redrico Maranan said 131 officers were screened during its latest session on Thursday.

“The Group has so far evaluated a total of 466 senior officials. The body is set to evaluate and process the remaining senior officers in the coming weeks,” he said.
Maranan said the group will prepare a comprehensive report to Interior Secretary and NAPOLCOM chairperson Benhur Abalos.
Abalos is set to give his endorsement to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. about the resignations, he added.
According to Maranan, the group is targeting to finish the evaluation earlier than the 90-day period previously set deadline.
“However expeditious the process may be, fairness, objectivity and due diligence in the conduct of the review proceedings is always observed,” he said.
On January 4, Abalos appealed to senior PNP officials to submit their courtesy resignations as part of the government's efforts to rid the police force of officers involved in the illegal drug trade.
He said this was “the only way to make a fresh start” in the PNP, as he expressed concern over the involvement of some ranking police officers in the illegal drug trade.
A five-man advisory group, including PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr., is now reviewing the resignations.
The NAPOLCOM will again assess the police officers whose resignations are accepted by the group.
It will then be forwarded for the approval of Marcos. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
