Tricycle driver shot to death in Tondo

A tricycle driver who stopped for traffic was shot dead by an unidentified assailant on a motorcycle while plying the streets of Tondo, Manila early morning on Sunday.

Identified as Rolly Marquez, the victim was on a trip when he stopped due to traffic along the corner of Rajah Matanda Street past 1 a.m. on Sunday when he was shot in the head twice by a gunman who also stopped beside the tricycle.

The suspect fled the scene, but Manila Police District Station 2 Commander Police Lieutenent Colonel Jorge Meneses III said the motorcycle was found parked at the corner of Recto Street and Carmen Street.

The victim’s wife Maribel Marquez is now calling on the gunman to come forward, as she seeks justice for what happened to her husband.

“Sana makonsensiya po kayo. Paano na po kami ngayon? Tatlo pa po ang naiwan sa amin, nag-aaral pa po,” she said in a report by Nico Waje on GMA’s “24 Oras Weekend” on Sunday.

(I hope your conscience haunts you. What will happen to us? My husband left three kids with me, and they are still studying.)

“Bakit mo ginawa to? Hindi namin ‘to kaya. Wala kang kwentang tao,” the victim’s daughter Mariel said in the same report.
