Marcos to DHSUD: Be transparent in transactions on housing projects

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Thursday called on the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) to be transparent in its transactions on housing projects.

Marcos made the call during the groundbreaking ceremony of the 4PH project in Balatas in Naga City, Camarines Sur.

"Nais ko ring gamitin ang pagkakataong ito upang igiit sa DHSUD, at sa ating mga LGU, at iba pang ahensya na maging matapat at bukas sa inyong mga transaksyon, lalong-lalo sa mga gawaing may kaugnayan sa pabahay," the President said in his speech.

(I want to take this opportunity to call on the DHSUD, our LGUs, and other agencies to be honest and remain transparent in your transactions in housing projects.)

The Chief Executive also tasked the agency to formulate measures and strategies that will ensure the establishment of affordable housing projects.

"Tiyak magiging matagumpay tayo sa pamamagitan ng inyong suporta, partikular sa paglalaan ng mga lupang pagtatayuan ng pabahay at maging sa paglalaan ng pondo," Marcos said.

(I am sure that this will be successful with your support including allocating lots for housing projects.)

The President also led the groundbreaking ceremony in Panganiban Drive.

Dubbed the "Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program", the Marcos administration's flagship housing program aims to address the country’s housing gap by building one million houses per year for the next six years.

Earlier, Marcos called on Congress to include a provision of interest subsidy support for housing projects in the national budget for the succeeding years.

The Presidential Communications Office said housing officials have reported that as of March 13 of this year, the DHSUD signed 83 memoranda of understanding and four memoranda of agreement with local government units nationwide.

Meanwhile, the Pag-IBIG Fund has allocated P250 billion for the 4PH project.

Marcos also led the distribution of various government assistance to chosen beneficiaries at Kafuerte Sports Center in Pili town. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
