Catapang to reshuffle BuCor personnel

By JOAHNA LEI CASILAO, GMA Integrated News

Newly appointed Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gregorio Catapang Jr. on Monday said he will reshuffle all personnel in the agency’s prisons and penal farms.

“There will be a reshuffle... I don’t want to preempt it, I will have a command conference tomorrow. I will announce the reshuffling of personnel within BuCor,” Catapang said.

Catapang issued the remark in an ambush interview following his oath taking at the Department of Justice.

However, he said he did not want to disclose his plans as this would cause uneasiness among personnel.

“Meron na ako, but I don’t want to telegraph my plans in as much as these are confidential. Lalong-lalo na pagka nalaman ng mga tao na gagalaw sila, they become so uneasy,” he said.

(I already have one. But I don't want to telegraph my plans as these are confidential. I don't want to disclose it because personnel movements also make people uneasy.)

Catapang was officially appointed as BuCor chief on Friday, replacing former BuCor head Gerald Bantag, who was suspended following the death of the inmate who allegedly acted as the middleman in the killing of Percy Lapid. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
