Bong Revilla recovers from gallbladder surgery

By HANA BORDEY, GMA Integrated News

Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. on Wednesday said he is currently recovering from a gallbladder surgery.

In a Facebook live on Wednesday afternoon, the lawmaker said he is about to be discharged from the hospital after his gallbladder was removed in a procedure on Tuesday.

“Ngayon palabas na ako. Wala na yung aking gallbladder. Yun ang cause ng aking pain,” Revilla said.

Cavite Representative Lani Mercado-Revilla, in the same video, said her husband's gallbladder was taken out through an incision on his navel.

Revilla said he was rushed to the hospital last Monday at around 4:30 a.m.

In a separate Facebook live on Tuesday, Mercado-Revilla said they thought her husband was only experiencing acid reflux but after several tests, they found out that the lawmaker had gallstones. The tests also showed that Revilla’s gallbladder was already inflamed.

The senator said the inflammation of his gallbladder was caused by eating chicharon bulaklak (deep-fried pork intestine).

“Oily food. So dati nang may bato sa gallbladder kaya dapat nache-check niyo yan. Wag niyo nang hayaan na pumutok yung mga ganon,” he said.

Revilla also thanked the doctors and nurses who treated him, and the supporters who wished him well. "May agimat pa rin," he said. — BM, GMA Integrated News
