Filipino priest named apostolic administrator of Guam archdiocese
Pope Francis has appointed Filipino priest Romeo Convocar as apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Agaña in Guam.
Convocar’s appointment came after the resignation of American Archbishop Michael Jude Byrnes due to medical reasons, according to the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
Prior to his appointment, the Filipino priest had been serving as the vicar general of the archdiocese in U.S. territory.
Convocar will oversee the ecclesiastical territory until the nomination of a new archbishop, the CBCP said.
Before he was incardinated into the Agaña archdiocese, Convocar served as chaplain of the Philippine Navy.
He is also a former formator at Domus Josephi Formation House of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines in Villamor Airbase in Pasay City. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
