PCG: 70,535 outbound, 55,151 inbound travelers on April 10

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday monitored 70,535 outbound passengers and 55,151 inbound passengers in all seaports from morning to noon on the last day of the long Holy Week-Araw ng Kagitingan holiday break.

According to the Coast Guard, they deployed 2,774 frontline personnel in 15 PCG Districts and inspected 502 vessels and 1,005 motorbancas to ensure smooth operations in the country's ports during the holidays.

The PCG likewise placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on “heightened alert” from April 2 to April 10, 2023, to manage the influx of passengers.

The alert status would continue until May 31, 2023 and cover the length of the summer vacation in anticipation of local tourists traveling by sea for recreational purposes.

Travelers were advised to coordinate with the PCG for their inquiries, concerns, and clarifications on travel protocols and regulations this summer vacation through its official Facebook page or the Coast Guard Public Affairs number 0927-560-7729.

April 6 (Maundy Thursday) and April 7 (Good Friday) were declared regular holidays while April 8 (Black Saturday) was a special non-working day.

Meanwhile, Monday-April 10 was declared a non-working day in observance of Araw ng Kagitingan, which falls on April 9 (Sunday). — DVM, GMA Integrated News
