The Bureau of Immigration on Monday announced that more than 45,000 passengers arrived in the country on Easter Sunday.

The BI also recorded more than 33,000 departures.

“The high number of arriving and departing passengers show that the travel sector is already recovering,” Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said in a statement.

“We see this as a good sign, and we believe the numbers will continue [to] rise until the end of the year,” he added.

Tansingco previously said operations remained smooth despite the increase in travelers during the Holy Week. He said 155 Immigration officers were also deployed for the week.

“Our officers sacrifice precious time with their loved ones to serve the traveling public. Despite the challenges, we are thankful to those who continue their work efficiently and professionally,” he said. —NB, GMA Integrated News
