Additional hazing complaints over Salilig death submitted for resolution

Two additional complaints against the suspects in the alleged hazing death of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig were submitted for resolution by the Department of Justice on Tuesday.

“Yeah, submitted for resolution,” said Atty. Fernando Perito, legal counsel for one of the respondents, said in an ambush interview.
 
This was also confirmed by the legal counsel for the Philippine National Police.
 
The complaints, which were already consolidated, were separately filed by Earl Justine Abuda, alias Bin Laden, and Alexander Marcelo, alias Lee, who were with Salilig during the welcoming rites, as well as Salilig’s brother, John Michael, and Tau Gamma Phi fraternity neophyte Roi Dela Cruz.
 
Abuda and Marcelo’s complaint was filed against 19 individuals, while Dela Cruz and John Michael’s complaint listed 11 individuals and a certain “McGregor.”
 
In March, the DOJ indicted Tau Gamma members Earl Anthony Romero, Jerome Balot, Sandro Victorino, Michael Lambert Ricalde, Mark Pedrosa, master initiator Daniel Perry, and grand triskelion Tung Cheng Teng for violation of the Anti-Hazing Law of 2018.

The body of Salilig, 24, was found in a shallow grave in Imus, Cavite, on February 28, ten days after he was reported missing.

At a Senate hearing last month, a witness said that Tau Gamma members decided not to bring Salilig to the hospital after he suffered from a seizure during the fraternity's welcoming rites. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
