PSA: Nearly 60M Filipinos issued with PhilIDs, ePhilIDs

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Friday announced that nearly 60 million Filipinos now have their Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) IDs.

In a news release, the PSA said that, as of April 21, 2023, a total of 29,119,471 PhilIDs or national IDs have been delivered while 30,738,330 ePhilIDs (the digital version of the national ID that is printed at registration centers)  have been issued

In total, 59,857,801 IDs have been issued by the PSA.

PSA chief and National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa described the development as a “milestone” for the PhilSys initiative as it “serves as an impetus for the PSA as we continue working towards our goal of creating a Makabagong Pilipinas where services are more accessible to all Filipinos.”

Mapa made an assurance that all who registered will receive their PhilIDs and ePhilIDs.

Like the physical card, claiming a printed e-Phil ID is also free of charge. The PSA also said that the million printed e-Phil IDs issued would be accepted in transactions.

The printed e-Phil ID will be honored in transactions as a valid and sufficient proof of identity and age, subject to authentication, in all national government agencies, local government units, government-owned and controlled corporations, government financial institutions, financial institutions, and the private sector. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
