Philippines posts 1,442 COVID-19 cases; active tally at 14,888

The Philippines recorded an additional 1,442 COVID-19 cases on Friday, increasing the nationwide tally to 4,145,792.

Latest Department of Health (DOH) tally showed the number of active infections decreased to 14,888 from Thursday’s 15,418.

Meanwhile, total recoveries rose by 1,961 to 4064,428.

Ten new COVID-19-related deaths were monitored in the country after 12 days of zero fatalities, increasing the death toll to  66,476 — the highest deaths in 13 days.

Metro Manila reported the highest number of COVID-19 increases in the last 14 days with 6,941. It was followed by Calabarzon with 4,672; Central Luzon with 2,393; Western Visayas with 1,583; and Cagayan Valley with 878.

The country’s bed occupancy remained at low risk with 21.2%.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
