PNP: Over 3,000 cops on stand-by as poll workers for Eleksyon 2025

Over 3,000 police officers and personnel are on stand-by to be tapped to serve as special electoral boards (SEBs) for Eleksyon 2025, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
At the Saturday News Forum, Director for Police Community Relations Police Maj. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba said that the PNP is preparing for deployment as SEBs, “more than 3,000 of them, should our COMELEC (Commission on Elections) ask assistance from the PNP.”
Alba said police officers to be tapped as SEBs could serve in areas where teachers and other poll workers could not reach.
“We are ready to provide these trained SEBs then we have also prepared to have our security plans in place,” the PNP official said.
PNP Public Information Office chief Police Col. Randulf Tuaño said that, as of May 5, 37 election hotspots have been identified, 35 of which are in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Meanwhile, Alba said that the PNP is “all hands on deck” for the May 12 polls.
COMELEC Chairman George Garcia, meanwhile, has expressed confidence that the midterm elections will be peaceful and orderly.
Election Day is Monday, May 12, with polling precincts opening as early as 5 a.m. to allow senior citizens, persons with disability, and pregnant registered voters to cast their votes early until 7 a.m.
Regular voting hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
