ICI turns over 2 trucks of flood control documents to Ombudsman

The Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) on Thursday turned over truckloads of documents involving its investigation on alleged anomalies in flood control projects to the Office of the Ombudsman in Quezon City.

The documents were dropped off at the Ombudsman by personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and a logistics company.

The two trucks used in the transport of the documents are PNP vehicles.

According to the boxes’ labels, some of the locations of the flood control projects probed by the ICI were in Albay, Sorsogon, Isabela, and Romblon, among others.

The boxes’ labels also indicated some names of offices of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), such as DPWH Region 4A, DPWH Region 4B DPWH Negros Oriental, and DPWH Tarlac.

Some labels carried the names of some project contractors, such as: St. Gerard Construction, Silverwolves Construction Corporation, Legacy Construction Corporation, Alpha and Omega General Contractor and Development Corporation, St. Matthew General Contractor, and Sunwest Inc.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. created the ICI through Executive Order No. 94 in September last year as a non-partisan fact-finding body tasked to investigate alleged irregularities in flood control and other infrastructure projects over the past 10 years.

The ICI is chaired by former Supreme Court Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr.

In December, Rogelio “Babes” Singson resigned from his post as ICI commissioner due to health and security concerns, while Rossana Fajardo stepped down after completing the work she set out to accomplish.

In a press briefing in New York earlier this week, Marcos said the ICI’s brief has been “fulfilled.” — JMA, GMA Integrated News
