4 hurt in freak accident at SLEX

At least four people were reported injured after a truck they were riding figured in a freak accident along a portion of the South Luzon Expressway early Tuesday.

 

SLEX traffic control supervisor Ric Mapuyan said the incident was a "self-accident" where the truck carrying scrap bottles and glass went out of control and crashed.

 

Mapuyan said the truck, which was heading for Metro Manila at the time, also snarled traffic for several moments after it spilled its contents on the other lane where vehicles were heading south.

 

"Loaded siya ng bubog at basag na bote. Nag-spill sa kabilang lane ang basag na bote kaya nag-cause ng traffic," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.

 

He said four people, all occupants of the truck, sustained injuries and were brought to a nearby hospital.

 

Mapuyan said the incident at the Mamplasan area backed up traffic for "400 to 500 meters.” –KG, GMA News
