2 killed, 1 hurt in truck accident in Quezon

Two people were reported killed while one was in critical condition after a truck they were riding figured in an accident along the Maharlika Highway in Quezon province before dawn Monday.

 

The truck carrying cement went out of control and crashed at a part of the highway in Calauag town in Quezon, radio dzBB's correspondent Peewee Bacuño reported.

 

Rescue teams needed several hours to pull out the remains of the fatalities, the same report said.

 

The other victim was rushed to a nearby hospital.

 

An initial investigation showed the accident occurred at about 3 a.m., but rescue teams managed to retrieve the fatalities' remains at 7 a.m.

 

Police learned the truck was heading for Cavite from Legazpi City in Bicol, to deliver cement.

 

The truck's cargo spilled over the highway after the crash. — RSJ, GMA News
