More rotational brownouts loom in parts of Mindanao amid hot weather
Residents in parts of Mindanao may have to brace for more rotational brownouts in the coming days amid the continued hot weather.
In Cagayan de Oro City, GMA Northern Mindanao reported the Cagayan Electric Power and Light Co. will implement load shedding.
This is due to the short supply of power in the Mindanao grid, the report said.
On Monday, Cepalco began implementing rotational brownouts lasting two-and-a-half to three-and-a-half hours in the area.
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said power supply is low in Mindanao due to the hot weather, with water at Agus and Pulangui Dams at low levels.
Zamboanga del Sur
Meanwhile, GMA News stringer Ellen Cerbo-Ajijul reported Zamboanga del Sur, which had suffered rotational brownouts for months, may face longer outages.
The Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperative cited lower power supply due to the shutdown of the Pulangi 4 hydroelectric power plant in Maramag, Bukidnon.
With this, the brownouts lasting three to four hours may get longer.
The cooperative sought understanding from its customers. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
