Trainer plane overshoots runway in Lingayen Airport


A trainer plane flown by student pilot skidded off the runway in Lingayen Airport Thursday, temporarily interrupting airport operations.

"Unang Balita" reported Friday morning that initially the Cessna plane touched down normally but a few moments later it veered off the runway.

An initial investigation showed the plane experienced an engine trouble after it touched down, the report said.

According to the report, the plane, with body number RPC8862, is owned by the OMNI Aviation Corporation.

The student pilot was safe and unhurt, the report said.

Lingayen Airport's operations on Thursday were temporarily interrupted due to the incident.

An investigation into the incident by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is ongoing. The OMNI Aviation Corp. has not issed a statement so far. — LBG, GMA News
