The number of drug suspects killed in the simultaneous drug raids in Bulacan in the last 24 hours has risen to 32, while 107 others have been arrested, police director Senior Supt. Romeo Caramat said Wednesday.

During a press conference at Camp Crame, Caramat said they conducted 66 province-wide operations from 12 am, August 15, to 12 midnight the same day, of which 44 were buy bust operations, 14 involved the implementation of search warrant, and two were the setting up of anti-criminality checkpoint, and one was a service of an arrest warrant.

He said they had 20 armed encounters which resulted in the deaths of the 32 drug suspects.

Of the 32 killed, 16 were on their drug watch list, two were surenderees, and 14 were newly identified drug suspects.

He said they have seized P1.174 million worth of shabu and  765 grams of marijuana leaves and recovered 34 firearms, two grenades, and 114 live ammunitions.

Caramat admitted that of all the one-time, big-time police operations they have so far conducted, the recent one has yielded the most number of casualties.

“We have conducted several one-time, big-time operations in the past but so far this is the highest number of killed persons during our operations,” he said. — MDM, GMA News
