Man, girlfriend found dead separately in Bataan

A young man and his girlfriend were found dead in separate areas in Bataan a few days after they were reported missing, according to a report by GMA News' Lei Alviz on 24 Oras on Tuesday.

James Carl Guzman, 22, was found floating off Orion, Bataan, on Sunday while his girlfriend, Glory Mary Carbonell, 19, was found dead in the town of Pilar.

Both were employees of a fast-food chain at Balanga City and were last seen on Saturday afternoon at the Wetland and Nature Park.

Autopsy revealed that Guzman died from a strong blow from a paddle to the nape. No cause of death was given for his girlfriend, but she was confirmed to have sustained serious wounds before her death.

Guzman's mother Lotlot, however, said the two asked for permission to go to church before their disappearance.

"Iaayos lang yung schedule niya. Tsaka kukuhanin niya yung sahod niya. Nagpaalam ho yung babae, magsisimba raw ho sila. Eh hindi raw ho natuloy," Mrs. Guzman recalled.

Rogelio de Guzman, barangay captain of Brgy. Tortugas where the nature park is located, said the couple's belongings were found by watchmen at the park.

"Natagpuan ng mga tanod namin 'yung things lang, yung mga bag at mga tsinelas lang nandito sa tabi ng banga," De Guzman said.

Mrs. Guzman has appealed to President Rodrigo Duterte to bring swift justice to her son's death, while Carbonell's relatives chose to remain silent.

"Mr. President, gusto ko lang sanang humiling ng tulong sa inyo. Gusto ko sanang magkaroon ng katarungan ang pagkamatay ng anak ko," Mrs. Guzman said. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
