140th birth anniversary of Pres. Manuel L. Quezon commemorated in his province

LUCENA CITY - Quezon residents led by Governor David Suarez marked the 140th birth anniversary of the late President Manuel L. Quezon on Sunday.

The celebration started with a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of Quezon in Perez Park within the Capitol Compound in Lucena City.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar was the guest of honor.

Suarez and Andanar then gave speeches honoring Quezon who was the President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines from 1935 to 1944.

The President was born in Baler, Tayabas on August 19, 1878. Tayabas was later renamed to Quezon Province.

Meanwhile, in Quezon City in Metro Manila, government officials led the observance of Quezon's birthday with a wreath-laying ceremony and the opening of the Presidential Car Museum inside Quezon Memorial Circle. —KG, GMA News
