Cavite cop caught on video hitting recruits relieved from post

A Cavite police officer has been relieved from his post over video footage showing him subjecting recruits to hazing, the provincial police said on Wednesday.

The policeman was identified as Superintendent Alex Dimaculangan, who was formerly the chief of the Cavite Provincial Mobile Force Company.

In a cellphone video, he was reportedly seen yelling and hitting recruits repeatedly with a bat at Camp Francisco Ferma in Tagaytay.

Senior Superintendent William Segun, chief of the Cavite police, told GMA News Online that he "immediately" relieved Dimaculangan from his post after seeing the video last September.

He added that Dimaculangan explained he was just "disciplining" the officers.

Segun also said the National Police Commission (Napolcom) has  already launched an investigation into the alleged hazing video. — MDM/KG, GMA News
