Davao City files 267 complaints vs. quarantine violators

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has filed 267 complaints against individuals found violating the enhanced community quarantine amid the COVID-19 situation, the Davao City government said Thursday.

The city government, citing accounts from  DCPO chief Police Colonel Kirby John Kraft, said the complaints were filed stemming from 340 apprehensions broken down to: 247 who violated curfew hours, 40 who defied liquor ban and 60 others who did not observe social distancing and/or violated prohibition on mass gathering.

“The Davao City Police Office would really appreciate reports from citizens about violators of the implementation of the ECQ. Let us cooperate and help each other in this time of crisis,” the city government quoted Kraft as saying.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, for her part, called on Davaoeños to report those violating quarantine measures to the COVID-19 Operations Center and other law enforcement agencies.

Duterte has imposed curfew, liquor ban and prohibited mass gathering since March 15 as part of quarantine measures to prevent COVID-19 transmission.
