Pagadian residents opt to have relief goods given to less fortunate townmates
Some residents of Pagadian City have opted to show their solidarity with their town mates by respectfully declining the relief goods distributed by the local government amid the lockdown imposed due to the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The residents notified government employees tasked to hand out the food packs through the unusual signages installed on their gates.
"Thank you sa relief goods LGU Pagadian. Ihatag nalang sa uban (Give the relief goods to others). STAY AT HOME! " said most of the signs attached to closed gates.
Michael Angelo Lozada, a public school teacher, “Even though na sobrang hirap, ang kailangan ngayon ng ating bansa is unity and understanding."
"Bilang magandang halimbawa ng government employee.Ito 'yung aim ko na kung maaari ay maibahagi ko yung mga blessings ko sa ibang tao,” he added.
Marivic Castillo, meanwhile, believed that one could receive more blessings by helping those who are in need.
“Matagal na akong deboto ni Sr. Sto. Nino sir at hindi ko ipinagkaila na maraming blessing na dumating sa akin. Dahil sa pangyayari ngayon sa Covid-19,nakita ko na may ibang tunay na nangangailangan,” said Castillo.
The photos of the signages were posted on the Facebook page of the Pagadian City local government unit.
Pagadian City Mayor Sammy Co expressed admiration and was gratefull to the residents.
“Nagpapasalamat ako ng malaki sa mga residente sa maliit na pamamaraan, naglagay sila na hindi sila tatanggap. Ang ating mga opisyal sa 54 na barangay, hindi na mahihirapan at sasakit ang ulo,” he said.
"Dahil dito, hinikayat niya ang iba pang mga residente na gawin din ang ganitong simpleng pamamaraan lalong-lalo na sa mga maykayang pamilya," he added.
As of April 7, Pagadian City has no record of confirmed COVID-19 cases but lists seven Persons Under Investigation (PUI) and one recovery. -- BAP, GMA News
