Fabel Pineda’s OFW mother seeks justice in 15-year-old’s rape-slay

The overseas Filipino worker mother of Fabel Pineda, the 15-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murdered by two police officers, appealed for President Rodrigo Duterte’s help in bringing her daughter’s killers to justice.

According to Emil Sumangil’s report on “24 Oras,” Pineda arrived in the country on Monday afternoon along with over 300 other repatriates from Kuwait.

“Anak, nakauwi na ako. Nandito na ako. Makikita kita, bangkay ka na,” she said through her tears.

Pineda will have to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine before returning to Ilocos Sur under the prevailing guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.

She had asked the government to exempt her from the requirement.

Meanwhile, she appealed for Duterte’s help in expediting the resolution of her daughter’s case.

“Nagpapatulong po ako sa inyo para makamit ko ang hustisya ng anak ko. ‘Yun lang po ang gusto ko,” Pineda told the President.

The grieving mother said she would forego working abroad in the meantime to focus on the case.

“Ang masasabi ko lang, pagbayaran nila ‘yung kanilang ginawa,” she said of the two suspects in her daughter’s death, Police Staff Sergeants Randy Ramos and Marawi Torda.

“Bakit naman ganiyan ang ginawa niyo sa anak ko? Ano bang kasalanan niya? Wala naman siyang kasalanan, walang kamalay-malay, bakit niyo ginano’n, pinatay [na] karumaldumal?” Pineda added.

Murder charges were earlier filed against Ramos and Torda.

All policemen of the Cabugao and San Juan Municipal Police Stations in Ilocos Sur had also been relieved from duty and the Cabugao police chief was charged with obstruction of justice.  — Julia Mari Ornedo/DVM, GMA News
