Lipa City under lockdown starting August 1
Lipa City in Batangas was placed under lockdown starting Saturday, August 1 as a measure to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
Mayor Eric Africa announced the lockdown on Friday in a Facebook post.

A curfew will be imposed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Barangays will issue quarantine passes to household leaders and workers, he said.
The local government will put up checkpoints to control the movement of residents.
It will also close temporarily the secondary roads leading to Lipa City.
Meanwhile, Lipa City residents who work outside the city will be required to have an isolation facility at home or remain at their workplaces.
Those who are non-residents but with work inside the city on the other hand will have to present a negative swab or rapid test result.
Africa said the liquor ban will be heightened and bars will be temporarily closed. Serving of alcoholic drinks will not be allowed.
Batangas is currently under general community quarantine.
As of July 31, Lipa City had 127 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Of this number, 46 are active.
The whole province of Batangas, meanwhile, has had 1,003 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
