40 aboard Metro Manila-Davao City flight test positive for COVID-19

Forty airline passengers who flew from Metro Manila to Davao City turned out to be positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This was confirmed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, according to a report by Donar Cano of Super Radyo Davao on Dobol B sa News TV on Friday.

Mayor Duterte said the plane arrived on September 21, with the passengers likely being asymptomatic as they had undergone symptoms screening before checking in at the airport in Metro Manila and boarding the plane.

Davao City health authorities were presently monitoring the passengers.

The city government was also using a QR code system for travelers, who have to complete a form from the place of origin before being allowed to travel to the region.

There are now a total of 1,783 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Davao City, of which 274 were active cases and 1,441 had recovered from the illness. — Jamil Santos/DVM, GMA News
