Iloilo City places 34 barangays under lockdown due to COVID-19


The Iloilo City government has placed 34 barangays under total lockdown to arrest the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Mayor Jerry Treñas said Monday.

“I have released an Executive Order imposing a total lockdown for 34 barangays from September 28, 2020 at 5:00 PM until October 1, 2020 at 4:59 PM unless a longer period is required,” he said in a Facebook post.

“Contact tracing efforts shall be made and the necessities of the barangays shall be provided. We need to contain the virus to prevent further transmission,” he added.

An 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew will also be enforced in the concerned barangays.

The mayor also said that the city government would provide affected residents with food and medical needs for the duration of the lockdown.

The 34 barangays that will be locked down are:

  • Simon Ledesma, Jaro
  • Concepcion, City Proper
  • Lanit, Jaro
  • Bolilao, Mandurriao
  • Jalandoni Estate, Lapuz
  • MH Del Pilar, Jaro
  • Lopez Jaena Sur, La Paz
  • MV Hechanova, Jaro
  • Caingin, La Paz
  • Bakhaw, Mandurriao
  • San Jose, Arevalo
  • Balabago, Jaro
  • San Isidro, Jaro
  • Zamora Melliza, City Proper
  • Baldoza, La Paz
  • Mansaya, Lapuz
  • Sambag, Jaro
  • Mc Arthur, La Paz
  • Taytay Zone II, Jaro
  • Nabitasan, La Paz

Iloilo City has logged 2,122 COVID-19 cases with 1,147 recoveries and 53 deaths as of Sunday, according to the Department of Health Western Visayas. -NB, GMA News
