Batanes confirms second COVID-19 case


Batanes on Thursday announced its second coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection, just two days after it recorded its first case.

According to the provincial information desk of Batanes, Patient B-002 is a locally stranded individual (LSI) who arrived in the province on September 22 via the Philippine Air Force.

It added that the asymptomatic patient is in stable condition and is undergoing isolation at the Sinakan Isolation Unit in Sabtang.

“Intensive contact tracing is now being facilitated by the COVID-19 Task Group-Health Cluster… Stay tuned for further developments,” it said.

 

Batanes' first case was also an LSI who arrived in the province on September 22. The patient is undergoing isolation at the Batanes Resort.

Meanwhile, the Philippines has reported a total of 314,079 COVID-19 cases with 254,223 recoveries and 5,562 fatalities.—AOL, GMA News
