Port travels delayed, 2 fishermen missing due to bad weather

Several vehicles were stranded in the ports of Northern Samar and Sorsogon, while two fishermen went missing due to the inclement weather in several parts of the country.

In a Balitanghali report, it was seen that the queue of vehicles that were supposed to travel to Bicol reached almost four kilometers along the Allen Port in Northern Samar when the RoRo services suspended their operations.

A number of trucks loaded with vegetables and pork headed for Luzon were also stranded.

Several ships in Matnog Port in Sorsogon were also reportedly damaged due to the heavy rains, which caused the delay of travel to Samar.

Meanwhile, two fishermen from Tuguegarao, Cagayan went missing after sailing the Calayan Sea on Friday despite the bad weather. Initial reports said that their boat might have run out of fuel or got wrecked.

Certain areas in Aklan, particularly the municipalities of Libacao and Madalag, also got flooded on Sunday night due to scattered rain showers brought by the tail-end of a frontal system, according to PAGASA.

Makilala, Cotabato also experienced rains due to a localized thunderstorm, while the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan continues to affect the Northern and Central parts of Luzon.

PAGASA said that this weather disturbance, which has no effect yet in the country, may intensify and may make landfall in Caraga region or Eastern Visayas by Thursday.

According to the rainfall forecast of metro weather, most parts of the country may experience rains, with heavy to intense rains in the regions of MIMAROPA, Visayas, and Caraga.
